International law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison has hired M&A and shareholder activism expert Laura Turano to join its M&A practice.
Turano started her career at Davis Polk & Wardwell and worked there for nearly eight years, according to her LinkedIn profile, and was an associate in the M&A group. Turano joins Paul, Weiss as a partner in the corporate department.
“Laura is a rising star in the M&A world, and we are delighted to welcome her to our partnership,” Paul, Weiss Chairman Brad Karp said in a statement. “She also shares our commitment to client service, collaboration and mentorship.”
Turano is mostly focused on M&A, although she also advises clients on shareholder activism, takeover defense and corporate governance matters. She represented CSX in its settlement with Mantle Ridge, among some of the activist situations she was involved in, and worked for Baker Hughes in the proposed $38 billion merger with Halliburton, a deal that eventually fell apart.
